NTA (National Treatment Agency)

The National Treatment Agency places significant emphasis on reducing demand for drugs by access to treatment. Various treatment providers play their part and drug testing is an effective method of measuring effectiveness. In substance misuse assessment, the criteria and questions need to take account of:

  • Department of Health standards
  • Quality in Alcohol and Drug services (QuADs)
  • Substance Misuse Advisory Service commissioning standards
  • Models of care for drug misusers (which is effectively the national service framework)
  • Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS)
  • Department of Health clinical guidelines .

The Druglalyer® technology has proven to be a most cost effective and hygienic method of measuring patient with treatment and abstinence compliance, essential information for meeting these standards.

Hospitals (A and E and Maternity)
More and more patients admitted to Hospitals have drug and alcohol problems

More than 300 babies are born addicted to heroin and other illegal drugs every year in Scotland, new figures have revealed.

Since 1998, the number of babies born to drug-addicted mothers has soared by almost 30% as a result of growing abuse of class-A substances, particularly among middle-class parents.

Early drug detection can assist in the treatment of withdrawal by babies and their mothers.

Effective drug tests for babies and mothers can aid patient management programmes and the Drugalyser® is ideal for such drug testing programmes.
